Amanda Knox vs. Tammy Menendez

A couple of days ago I posted about watching the TLC documentary "The Trial of Amanda Knox". I wanted to elaborate about how I felt that the show was extremely onesided, well I just wanted to stand by my original statement. It annoyed me to no end that the producers took the stance that "Amanda is an innocent American who is being wrongfully prosecuted by the Big Bad Italian government!"

I wondered the whole time that I was watching this when they were going to delve into the fact that she lied to the police more than once. That she continued to make false allegations right up until she was in jail. If you were innocent then why exactly are you lying?

Well two nights ago I watched Mrs. Menendez, a story about Tammy Menendez, wife of convicted murderer Erik Menendez. As a brief refresher in late 1989 Erik and brother Lyle shot both of their parents. They late collected and spent hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in life insurance money. Brutal I know, but the different between the two cases is the fact that Mrs. Menendez which aired on A&E highlighted the both sides of the case. It showed clips of negative and positive press. It was refreshing to watch a show that wasn't overly biased.

My personal feelings about the Menendez brothers didn't weigh positively or negatively on my viewing experience. However, I tried not to let my personal bias creep up on me while watching the TLC doc but I couldn't help it. Erik Menendez was sexual molested by his father as a child, he was a victim of incest. I don't think that too many men would be willing to admit that in open court whether or not the death penalty was on the table. So why is it that we demonize a victim and praise someone who may have committed an awful crime abroad?

Why is it as a country we are so willing to convict our own but the moment that another country steps in to try and possibly convict an American citizen they have to be "crooked", or "quacks"? Is it possible that Knox was given a fair trial abroad where Menendez (either one of them) got shafted?

I guess we all know what side I fall, but I challenge you to think about what occured here. Did either the Menenez brothers or Amanda Knox get a fair trial?

The Trial of Amanda Knox

Just a quick update, last night I watched the TLC documentary of the Amanda Knox trial. Needless to say I was thoroughly unimpressed at the one-sidedness of the hour ling special. I would go on but I'm mobile and really need to get back to my day job!

Prison Wives

So I have a slight obsession with TV. Anyone who knows me knows that I love my TV just as much as I do any family member! I've been watching this new show called "Prison Wives" all about women and one man who are married some one is in prison. These women and one man are to say the least a little warped.

Well this week's episode features a mother who wants her eldest child to accept her husband when the daughter rejects him the mother turns her back on her own child. Even when her daughter begs her to being get first and only grandchild a present for get first birthday the mother has nothing but negative things to say but you praise a man who pled guilty of murder!

I'm often conflicted when I see stories such as these, do you blame the women who often times are seeking companionship or do you blame the men who appear to be predators seeking money and phone sex! I don't know but I'm kinda upset that I missed some of the episode. Unfortch I have to wait for Saturday morning much like I did when I was a little girl!

I'm Here I'm Here I Know I'm Late!

I know it's been awhile since I've truly blogged but never fear I'm here! I've been absorbing my living arrangements all the while battling frequent, intense migraines and trying to cope with the insomnia. I'm seriously on the hunt a house so that I can move with the quickness... I don't think that my mental state can handle it much longer.

Anyhoodle, I've finally made the decision to not go to law school (well not for awhile). I don't think that I can best serve the community and my target demographic by actually being a lawyer. I want to get in there down in the trenches. I want to make a difference and not sit on the sidelines in a suit.

Now this doesn't mean that I will discontinue my fledgling blog or my love of all thing crime related. It just means that I want to be the solution or at least the gateway to the solution rather than a pawn.

Wish me love lovlies!

Okay so I finally upgraded from my BlackBerry 8100 to an iPhone! Originally I wanted the htc Tilt 2 but the price of the iPhone looked much better to this blogger's budget!

I'm happy to report that I'm completely in love with my iPhone even though I thought it was for douchebags like the cast if Jersey Shore!

So there you have it I'm stoked to be an iPhone owner!
