Self Defense or Murder –

Atlanta based Producer Shawty Redd was arrested on New Year's Day following the shooting and subsequent death of acquaintance Damon A. Martin. When initially questions by the police Redd, who's real name is Demetrius Stewart, claimed that Martin was shot accidentally. Police later discovered that Stewart and Martin had been involved in an altercation which later turned physical.

Self defense must be the first thought that pops into a suspect's head when they're in trouble. I guess they assume that you can't disprove that the victim wasn't trying to harm or kill them first. Any layperson knows from watching an episode of Forensic Files scientist can prove how the incident went down.

Update: A hearing for Stewart has been postponed until January 12th due to legal representation not being available until then.

Seems like there may be witnesses to confirm or deny his self-defense claim which may turn out to be the key....

The only problem I see is him proving his life was in such danger he had to use deadly force

Details are few and far between right now. I'm still digging to see if it has been reported that there were other witnesses.

I'm more concerned with the fact that he lied and said that it was an accident but later when presses admitted that the murder wasn't exactly an accident!
